Chapel of the Holy Cross
Chapel of the Holy Cross is one of the most interesting architectural sites in Sedona. The church is built into the red rock. Marguerite Brunswig Staude, a devout Catholic artist, began to build Chapel of the Holy Cross in 1932 and completed it in 1957. The chapel is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Earth Wisdom Jeep Tours
Earth Wisdom Jeep Tours offers a tour of one of the most spectacular views in Sedona –the vortexes. Guides will take you on a quest to the vortexes and explain how American Indians viewed the natural phenomenon. This tour is nearly three hours long and it costs $58 per person. Hillside Sedona is for the shopper. The mall has art galleries, food courts, and magnificent views of Sedona. The mall is located in the village of Oak Creek. Oak Creek Canyon
Oak Creek Canyon is the second-largest natural tourist attraction in Arizona after the Grand Canyon. Oak Creek Canyon is part of the 1.8 million acres that make up Coconino National Forest, which is north of Sedona. Guests can participate in a number of activities, including hiking, fishing, bird watching, and biking. Many artists and photographers also like to come here to capture Oak Creek Canyon’s natural wonders. Tourists will see red rocks, pine forests, and a variety of wildlife. This is one of the most famous jeep tour businesses in Sedona. Pink Jeep Tours, which is located at 204 N. Highway 89A, is the oldest continuously operating jeep tour company in the United States. The company offers a variety of experiences for its clients. Guests can go on a tour that explains American Indian history and culture at ruin sites or they can ride through red rock canyons. Shopping addicts have plenty of places to look for bargains at Prime Outlets. The outlet center is located in Sedona’s red rock mountains and has several brand-name stores. Prime Outlets is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Red Rock State Park
Red Rock State Park is located five miles west of Sedona on Highway 89A. This 286-acre park offers guests an opportunity to see Sedona’s topography, including its vegetation. The park allows hiking on several designated trails, but pets are not allowed to accompany their owners on hikes. The most famous spot in the park is Cathedral Rock, which is one of the most photographed sights in the park. Sedona Arts Center
The Sedona Arts Center showcases the works of more than 120 local and regional artists. The center also has a rotating exhibition gallery, a school for new artists, and workshops by visiting artists. A variety of activities and performances are available at the Sedona Cultural Park. The park has a 5,000-seat amphitheatre, nature trails, and picnic areas. Concerts are one of the major attractions to Sedona Cultural Park. The Summer in the Park concert series is just one of the performances guests can enjoy when they visit this park in Red Rock Country. Classes, workshops, and exhibitions are also offered here. The Sedona Heritage Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in the Jordan Historical Park. The museum is housed in an historic home that is furnished with antiques. The museum was once Walter and Ruth Jordan’s farmhouse. The first room details the stories of Sedona’s first pioneers, and another room provides the history of the film industry in the city. The museum, which has other exhibits, is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The suggested admission price is a $3 donation. The Sedona Heritage Museum also has a gift shop. Sedona Trolley Tours
Tourists can see all of Sedona in less than an hour when they ride Sedona Trolley Tours. There are two tours that take guests around the entire city. The cost is $8 for adults for one tour or $12 for both tours. Children ages 12 and younger can go on one tour for $3 or $4 for both tours. Tours depart every hour, beginning at 10 a.m., from the Cheers store near the Chamber of Commerce’s Visitor Center. Slide Rock State Park
Slide Rock State Park is located in Oak Creek Canyon. The park is named after a 30-foot-long water slide that was made from a worn-out area in the rocks. This site has been a landmark in Sedona since the 1970s. It offers plenty of activities for tourists. Guests can go to galleries, shops, restaurants, and to the Museum of the Red Rocks at Tlaquepaque. Trail Horse Adventures’ property is next to the Coconino National Forest. It offers tourists horseback rides through the forest. Trail Horse is the largest horseback tour provider in Arizona, and it has a staff of food experts, event planners, and trail guides. Rides can last from one hour to overnight tours.
